It has happened to many people in Northwest Ohio. The facts are very basic. A homeowner is forced from their home due to the current economic conditions and lagging real estate market. The Bank padlocks the door to the home and initiates a foreclosure proceeding. The former homeowner no longer has access or control. Zoning officials cite the former homeowner for violations. The homeowners may eventually end up filing bankruptcy in order to get a “fresh start”. But will their nightmare ever be over?
It is a story of hardship that unfortunately has not been reported on in the Toledo and Northwest Ohio area by the local media. It does exist in Northwest Ohio. I recently had the opportunity to travel to Cincinnati, Ohio. The local paper, the Cincinnati Enquirer, had an excellent Sunday news article illustrating the frustration of former homeowners, forced out of their home, who became a target for local building and zoning authorities.
