If you are unhappy with the treatment you are receiving, you have the right to change physicians to another doctor of your choice.
Unfortunately, employer’s often try to control the care injured workers receive after a work related injury. Obviously, if the employer is choosing the Dr or the facility it may not be to your advantage to continue your treatment with that provider. You should seek a Dr. that has only your interest in mind. Otherwise, you may be pressured to return to work before you are ready or to not get the testing or treatment that may be needed.
Additionally, if you have received treatment but want to try another form of treatment such as chiropractic or want to treat with a specialist, you can change physicians at any time during the course of your treatment.
If you begin treating with a doctor and you do not want to continue that treatment, you have the right under the law to find another doctor as long as that doctor is certified as a BWC provider. You will need to file a change of physician form to begin treatment with another doctor.
The Bureau of Workers’ Compensation has a list of providers that are certified and you can find a list of those providers by specialty and location at the BWC website.
