Oregon, Ohio, a suburb of Toledo, nestles along Lake Erie in Northwestern Ohio. According to the Oregon Economic Development Foundation, BP will invest approximately $100 million in upgrades at the Oregon Refinery to produce low sulfur gasoline and diesel fuel.

Other top Oregon employers include the Fresenius Medical Facility, a major provider of kidney dialysis services and renal care products, and Caraustar, the largest supplier of gypsum facing paper in North America.

Two excellent hospitals serve the City of Oregon: Bay Park Community Hospital and St. Charles Mercy Hospital. Bay Park Community Hospital is a small, but state-of-the-art 72-bed hospital. St. Charles Mercy Hospital is a 386-bed community hospital primarily serving the residents of Oregon and East Toledo.

Boating and fishing on Lake Erie are popular recreational pursuits in Oregon. The city’s signature event is the Oregon Fest, an annual community event featuring stage entertainment, amusement rides, a variety of foods, contests, a classic car show, art and craft show, Civil War reenactments, health information, and screenings by the two local hospitals, as well as a large parade.
